In an ongoing effort to provide the best care possible, we have recently added the Carestream 9000 3D cone beam CT scanner system to our practice. This powerful device is a real-time 3D imaging system that will revolutionize our patient imaging and treatment capabilities.
This versatile 3D system meets a full range of imaging needs. This system delivers clear 2D panoramic radiographs, which form the foundation of most cases. Since some cases call for additional anatomic detail, the systems multiple real-time 3D imaging capabilities support a wide range of clinical applications with focused field images.
This includes both single and dual jaw images, temporomandibular joint images, sinus, and maxillofacial views.
The state-of-the-art technology will help us to better diagnose, with an enhanced level of accuracy, and provide treatment with unprecedented confidence. Whether we are analyzing a complex impaction, planning a multiple site implant case, visualizing temporomandibular joint disorders or head and neck pathology, the precise crystal-clear
real-time 3D and panoramic images will help us devise your treatment plan and be able to show and answer any questions you may have about your care and treatment options.
Once more, because our new 3D system allows our technicians to target an exact area for imaging, our patients are exposed to significantly less x-rays compared to traditional CT imaging. Also, because this is a digital system, the amount of x-ray is significantly reduced for any of the images we need to obtain. The system combines speed, image quality, and precision to dramatically reduce the need for retakes. By using less x-rays than conventional spiral CT scans, the Carestream 9300 cone beam system better helps us adhere to the principle of “as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA), which we follow to ensure that we take every precaution to minimize the patient’s exposure to radiation when obtaining the necessary diagnostic images needed for treatment planning.
The benefits of our new real-time 3D imaging system include: High resolution images: So that we can see head and neck structures including teeth with unprecedented detail.High resolution images: So that we can see head and neck structures including teeth with unprecedented detail.
- Less radiation: Your health and safety is our greatest concern.
- Comfortable positioning: The system’s open design makes exams more comfortable with both seated and standing options to accommodate patients of all sizes and it is also wheelchair accessible.
- Improved care: We can perform a wider range of diagnostic imaging with even greater accuracy.
We offer this service to our patients and to local surgeries who wish their patients to use it.
