Anti-Wrinkle Solutions

Anti-Wrinkle treatment sometimes known as Botox, involves injecting a natural substance derived from a micro-organism into your area of concern.  This relaxes muscles and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Here at Treetops we use Azzalure® which is adapted from the botulinum toxin type-A of Dysport® and has successfully been used for over 20 years and is specifically designed for use in aesthetic solutions

Why do we get wrinkles?

Wrinkles and facial lines result from ageing, muscle activity and your genetic predisposition. In addition, sun exposure, alcohol consumption and smoking can also increase the evidence of wrinkles. Use of the facial muscles creases the skin when we frown, smile or raise our eyebrows. As we get older, these creases become deeper and more pronounced through constant use.

What can it help with?

How does it work?

It works by temporarily relaxing the muscles under the skin so that when you frown or smile, the treated muscles stay relaxed and don’t crease the skin, giving you a softer and younger look.

What happens during the treatment?

A very small amount of the anti-wrinkle product is injected into the muscles in the face using a small needle. Depending on the area being treated, there may be a series of injections.

How long does treatment take?

In most cases, the treatment will take between 10 and 20 minutes for a single area and is not painful and so a local anaesthetic is not required. Most people only experience mild discomfort and this can be minimised by the application of a Topical Anaesthetic Cream, if required.  There is sometimes a slight swelling and redness straight after treatment, which settles within a few hours.

When will I notice a difference?

The effect starts to work in about 4-5 days, with the greatest effect being seen after about 2-3 weeks.  The results normally last for 4-6 months depending on each person’s response.  Repeat treatments have been shown to have a longer lasting effect.

What should I expect?

It may not ‘completely freeze’ the expression, particularly if extreme effort is exerted to make an expression. There may be only a partial reduction in movement this very much depends on the amount administered and location of product placement.  This is not a one size fits all treatment and will be tailored to suit your individual requirements and expected treatment outcomes.

When should I book my next treatment?

It is recommended you book your next session between 4-6 months following yor first course.

Is it safe?

All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you at you consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. Azzalure  should always be administered by a healthcare professional with specialist training. Side effects include, but are not limited to;

Swelling at injection sites

Redness at injection sites

Asymmetry of expression

Drooping of the brow, or eyelid

Headache or a sensation of ‘tightness’ or ‘heaviness’

Adverse events are extremely uncommon, usually occur within a few days of treatment and are expected to be temporary, usually resolving spontaneously within weeks. Your clinician will provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote speedy recovery from any expected side effects.
