What a stunning last week of March, it started with lighter nights, then we mixed in a bit of sunshine and finally it is all complimented by the sheer excitement of a 4 day weekend. And that is not all….we have so many things to look forward to; a long awaited haircut on the 12th April, a relaxing chill out in the pub garden with friends and family and UK holidays are also on the horizon.
To sum it all up, there really is light at the end of the tunnel.
I also wanted to share with you how lucky I felt this week. I was able to sneak into the Treetops garden the other day for a quick tea break and I felt so lucky, all I could hear oozing from the open windows was laughter from the team and our patients. Visiting the dentist is not usually peoples favourite past time yet from the sounds resonating from the Treetops building, we definitely make it less of an ordeal.
I had such an interesting chat with a patient the other day who was congratulating us on the service and care we have provided during the past year. This led me to analyse some of our data which I thought I would share with you:
How many emergency patients did we provide virtual consultations for during the first national lock down?
On March 23rd 2020 all dental practices were forced to close due to government guidelines. This was devastating for our clinicians yet even though our doors closed, we very quickly adapted our service and supported all of our patients, albeit in a very different way.
Between 23rd March 2020 to June 7th 2020, we proudly provided virtual consultations for over 900 patients!
How many patients have we seen for face to face appointments since reopening on June 8th 2020.
Between June 8th 2020 to March 31 2021 we have provide face to face care for over4800 patients!
How many patients have failed to attend a face to face appointment since reopening on June 8th 2020?
We have sadly, since June 8 2020 – March 31 2021 had 428 patients fail to attend their face to face appointments.
I hope this further illustrates to all of our patients that we are working incredibly hard to ensure we meet your dental needs and expectations. We are still calling patients to reschedule appointments, yet please do call or email us if you are overdue for routine care or treatment and we will schedule a visit for you.
We are sorry.
We wanted to apologise, yet also acknowledge that our waiting times for treatment are not ideal at present.
This is due to the COVID safety measures we have implemented, to guarantee we are compliant and to ensure the safety of our patients and team.
Please be assured that emergencies are always prioritised and should our clinicians wish to see you sooner they will liaise with our reception team.
I wish you all a wonderful Easter and a safe and enjoyable April .
Thank you for your continuous appreciation and loyalty.
We have also nominated a Clinician who we feel this month deserves a

What is your Job?
Dental Therapist and Facial Aesthetics Practitioner
Can you tell us what a Dental Therapist and Facial Aesthetics Practitioner does?
As a Dental Therapist I can do fillings for adults and children, give dental hygiene advice, scale and polish, and administer gum disease treatments.
As a Facial Aesthetics Practitioner, I provide a discreet and professional, non surgical approach to Facial Aesthetics. I carry out treatments such as Anti Wrinkle Injections, Dermal Fillers, Profhilo, Micro needling, Microdermabrasion and much more. A Facial Aesthetics Practitioner aims to help you to look and feel the best version of you, without the need for invasive surgery.
How long have you worked at Treetops?
1 year, it has gone so fast!
What did you want to do when you were growing up?
What is the best thing about your job?
Treating patients and delivering outcomes of treatments that my patients are happy with, and to know that I`ve made a real difference to their quality of life. Also I get a buzz out of helping to beat gum disease through educating my patients as well as the treatments I carry out.
Do you have any special memories or funny moments you can share with us, whilst working at Treetops?
Recently I fell over in the garden when it was icy, and the security cameras picked it up, so naturally my colleagues thought it was hilarious, it was a real you’ve been framed moment!
How has covid-19 affected you at work?
Due to Covid-19 I am not allowed to use any aerosol treatments, therefore all our scale and polish treatments are carried out using hand scales, this is hard physically and can make your hands ache and a bit sore.
Thank you Kaye
Treetops continues to keep at the forefront of modern technology having now installed a dental microscope!
A dental microscope is an optical instrument that the dentist looks through during treatment to enhance vision. Magnification and illumination allow the dentist to significantly improve visualisation, precision and accuracy during treatment to provide the very highest standard of care.
Multiple studies that have demonstrated the ability of dental microscopes to improve the success of treatments such as root canal treatment or endodontic surgery, in addition to perform more complex cases to a high standard.
It also helps the dentist to diagnose problems that may not always be visible to the naked eye such as small cracks.
My name is Dr Chris Burn, I am Treetops in-house Endodontist, I am currently completing my specialist training in Endodontics (root canal treatment) at the Eastman Dental Institute in London and my professional opinion on the microscope is:
“The dental microscope is a fantastic piece of equipment that helps me to work at the very highest levels of precision. In terms of providing root canal treatment it allows me to more easily identify and manage issues encountered during treatment and to work more efficiently and effectively, ultimately improving the standard of care that my patients receive.”
