Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling and taking out teeth. Many people turn to cosmetic dentistry, or ‘aesthetic dentistry’, as a way of improving their appearance. This can be done the same way you might use cosmetic surgery or even a new hairstyle. The treatments can be used to straighten, lighten, reshape as well as repair teeth.

Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of the teeth, gums and jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all the teeth. Our Orthodontic specialist has been fully qualified for over 5 years and has improved over 400 smiles.

Today 25% of all orthodontic patients are adults who, for many reasons, did not pursue any teeth straightening procedures when teenagers. With the promise of less visible braces, fewer appointments, less discomfort and shorter treatment time more and more adults are deciding that they want to improve their appearance, tooth function and confidence.

Our braces are made from a translucent ceramic material that will not discolour or erode like plastic or metal braces. They absorb light to blend with a wide range of tooth colours and do not sparkle like clear or plastic braces. Plus, because of the unique clip that holds the wire in place, no metal or plastic ties are needed – ties that discolour and irritate the soft tissue in your mouth.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth colouring naturally varies from person to person and with age even healthy teeth will darken. However should you want a brighter, whiter smile we can help. More people than ever before are undergoing teeth whitening procedures and extensive research and clinical trials have proven that teeth whitening under the supervision of a dentist is perfectly safe.

Teeth whitening

To whiten your teeth we will use Hydrogen Peroxide (bleach) applied on the outside of your teeth to effectively whiten them. While the bleach lightens your teeth their structure is left completely intact. The preparation and treatment takes only around one hour and by the end of the session your teeth will be dramatically whiter.

The effectiveness of tooth whitening will vary from patient to patient but we will be able to give you a guide of the difference you should expect to see. Sensitivity to hot and cold food is common for a few days after bleaching.

Fillings are the most common type of restorative treatment. Restorative dental treatment is generally needed because decay has caused a cavity to form in a tooth. In many case fillings are the first treatment option that a dentist will recommend for decayed teeth (provided that the decay is in its early stages and has not progressed too far) and the least expensive type of restorative treatment. Filling a tooth literally means that the dentist
places material into the tooth to replace the decayed tissue.

When performing your treatment the composite filling or “white filling” will be coloured to match your teeth and will ensure a natural look. We can also take replace your existing amalgam fillings with new composite fillings.

Below are before and after pictures where an amalgam filling has been replaced with a composite filling.

Inlays and Onlays

Occasionally inlays and onlays can be used instead of fillings to repair damaged teeth. The main difference between these and fillings are that inlays and onlays will be crafted outside of the mouth by our experts and then glued to your teeth. An inlay sits within a hole in tooth and an outlay is sits on the tooth to build up its shape.

Inlays and inlays
In preparation for creating the inlay or onlay an impression of your tooth being repaired and the teeth surrounding it is taken. A temporary filling will be used to protect your teeth while the inlay or onlay is made.

When our experts make your inlay or onlay it will be coloured to create a perfect match with your other teeth.
