August has been an exciting and busy month here at Treetops, and I’m delighted to share some wonderful updates with you!

We’re thrilled to welcome Megan, our new hygienist, who brings a gentle, caring approach to patient care.

Each month at Treetops, we’re proud to honour our commitment to the community in meaningful ways. 

On 18th August, our very own Polly made a guest appearance on Gulshan 106.9FM - Wolverhampton’s first and only Asian radio station.

Polly spoke fluently in Punjabi, answering dental questions and sharing advice to help raise awareness about oral health within our community.

Clinician’s Corner: Solving the problem of TMJ

Jaw pain, clicking when you chew or tension in the face and neck can all be signs of TMJ dysfunction. 

The temporomandibular joints are small but vital, connecting your jaw to your skull and working every time you eat, speak or yawn. 

When these joints or surrounding muscles aren’t functioning in harmony with your teeth, problems can arise...

Stress is one of the most common triggers. Many people clench or grind their teeth under pressure – often without realising – which overworks the jaw muscles.

Other factors such as an uneven bite, injury or habits like chewing gum can also contribute.

Typical symptoms include facial aches, headaches, stiffness in the neck and shoulders or difficulty opening the mouth fully.

Treatment varies depending on the cause. At Treetops, we can create custom splints & bite guards in our on-site lab, working closely with our skilled technician for a precise, comfortable fit.

Exercises to relax the jaw, stress management or minor dental adjustments may also help.

For patients with severe clenching or persistent pain, Botox injections can relax overactive muscles and reduce discomfort.

If you are struggling with ongoing jaw pain, don’t ignore it. With the right care, we can restore comfort and balance.

 Treetops Dental Academy 

Treetops Dental Academy launches this September!

With more dental nurses leaving the profession than joining (according to the GDC), Polly has taken action by creating a training academy to grow the next generation of skilled, compassionate dental nurses.

This new branch of the Treetops tree will give aspiring nurses the chance to gain quality education, hands-on experience, and a pathway into a rewarding career in dentistry – all while helping to tackle the national recruitment crisis.

Enrolment is now open!

Introducing deposits for private treatments

At Treetops, we always do our very best to look after our patients and make sure appointments are available when you need them.

Sadly, we’ve seen an increase in missed and late-cancelled appointments recently, which has a big impact on our dentists, nurses, and of course on other patients waiting for treatment.

To help with this, from Monday 8th September we’ll be introducing a small deposit for private treatment appointments that are 30 minutes or longer.

The deposit will be equal to our “failure to attend” fee (for example £30 for 30 minutes, £60 for an hour) and will simply be deducted from your treatment cost at your appointment.

This change is not something we take lightly, but we feel it’s the fairest way to make sure our time is respected and that we can continue to provide high-quality care for everyone.

If appointments are cancelled with more than 48 hours’ notice, your deposit will be safely returned or carried over.

We truly value your support and understanding as we make this change, and we thank you for helping us keep Treetops running smoothly for the whole community.
